School Trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon

3 days 2 nights

Tread in the footsteps of England’s most famous playwright William Shakespeare!

Overview

School Trip To Shakespeare’s Country

Stratford upon Avon is the birthplace of our most famous playwright, William Shakespeare and a day spent exploring Shakespeare’s Houses combined with a workshop will enlighten and inform your pupils as well as teaching them about our most famous bard.  Rich in history, this pretty town has stunning architecture and a walk around the streets with the award-winning Stratford Walking Tours will enthral you and your group. They also offer ghost walks which is a great evening activity to keep your students entertained throughout the day.  Alternatively, a visit to watch a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre will compliment your visit to Shakespeare’s Houses as they tailor their programme to what is relevant to the national curriculum.

Every educational visit needs to include some downtime and fun and a trip on the river or a visit to Stratford Butterfly House are both enjoyable and a relaxing way to unwind.  Finally a trip enroute (depending where your school is based) to the magnificent Warwick Castle or Cadbury World near Birmingham, is a delicious and interesting way to finish off your trip.

Itinerary

Day 1

Depart for Stratford-Upon-Avon with a stop en-route at Stratford Butterfly Farm where hundreds of spectacular and vibrant butterflies fly around you in the leafy tropical environment. Take an afternoon cruise on the river before heading to your accommodation to allocate rooms. After your evening meal, enjoy a play at the world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Day 2

Spend a crazy morning at the Mechanical Art and Design (MAD) Museum – think of the machines and gizmos used in Wallace and Gromit, Scrapheap Challenge and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Spend the rest of the day visiting Stratford’s newest heritage site, Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall. This interactive and engaging attraction allows you to sit in the very room that Shakespeare sat as a pupil and visit the Council Chamber where his father served as Bailiff (Mayor). Enjoy an evening meal back at the accommodation before going back out for an evening Ghost Walk.

Day 3

Depart from your accommodation on the final day and you can either stay in Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare’s Family Homes or head off to the home of British motor sport to explore the amazing Silverstone Interactive Museum and experience an exciting journey through the past, present and future before starting the journey home.
