Take a school trip to the Highlands to take in the breath-taking scenery and it’s perfect for studying geography, geology and history or simply for an activity break or reward trip. We have put together an itinerary giving a mixture of history, geography and activities to give you some idea of what’s available but whatever ever you decide there is something for everyone in this part of Scotland.
Your accommodation will be at the Loch Ness Inn & Bunkhouse which is nestled in the Highland village of Drumnadrochit near the legendary Loch Ness…
All the rooms look out onto the River Coiltie and the rolling hills beyond. The Bunkhouse is located next to the courtyard, a short walk from our restaurant and bar. The rooms accommodate groups of up to six persons, there are also smaller rooms which can be booked as twin and triple room. Each room has a separate shower room and WC.

Day 1 Arrive in Drumnadrochit mid-day at the Loch Ness Inn to deposit luggage with afternoon visit to Urquhart Castle and take in your surroundings. Evening meal at your accommodation followed by teacher led activities in the grounds.
Day 2 In the morning take a cruise on Loch Ness followed by a visit to the Loss Ness Exhibition Centre. After lunch head off for an afternoon in Inverness that could include a visit to the Museum & Gallery or Botanic Gardens.
Day 3 After breakfast coach will collect you to travel to the Isle of Skye where a guide will meet you for a tour to enjoy the Fairy Pools, highlights of Northern Skye as well as Eilean Donan Castle. Evening meal back at the Loch Ness Inn.
Day 4 Depart your accommodation and head off to G2 Adventure Hub in the Cairngorms for a day full of outdoor activity and adventure including Zip Trek; a guided journey made up of fourteen zip wires along a 2km course. For adventurous zippers over 10 years old there are self-guided zip lines which aren’t for the faint-hearted!
Day 5 Depart The Loch Ness Inn and start your journey back home with a stop enroute at Landmark Forest Adventure Park – home to Dinosaur Kingdom; Scotland’s Biggest & Best Dinosaur Experience. Take the plunge down one of the three water coasters and walk the amazing hot-houses with hundreds of butterflies. Arrive back at school early evening.
Please note that depending on your location, you need to take into account travelling times so day one and five may be required for travel alone or the trip to be broken up with a stopover.
