Discover why birds fly thousands of miles along migratory routes, and the threats and challenges they face along the way. In this hands-on session you will get up close to a real goose wing (a fascinating object), and observe migratory birds in their natural habitats as you take a roving tour of the centre.
WWT London Wetland Centre is a beautiful nature reserve in the heart of the capital city. Pupils can explore wildlife habitats such as lakes, pools, reedbeds and gardens that are home to birds, frogs and newts.?They also have a large collection of rare and endangered birds along with an adorable otter family, who you can watch playing, eating and swimming in their special enclosure.
The centre is perfectly set up for school trips, offering a range of interactive learning sessions from pond-dipping to conservation. There is also a brilliant adventure playground, an indoor Discovery Centre, bird hides, an observatory and plenty of free school facilities including trails, binocular hire, parking, bag storage, lunch areas and risk assessment information.
