Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is infamous in America and now the UK, as a time to grab some great deals, but Twycross Zoo is going one better by launching ‘Black Fursday!’- offering special online and instore discounts from Thursday 26 – Sunday 29 November. This opportunity also marks the beginning of the zoo’s Christmas celebrations, where visitors will be able to visit Santa in his grotto and take part in festive activities around the zoo right up until Christmas Eve, as well as take advantage of lots of Yuletide offers,

Launching on Thursday 26 November ‘Black Fursday’ will see a 10% discount in the zoo’s gift shop on a wide range of merchandise such as key rings, puppets and soft toys, including cuddly penguins, zebra, chimpanzees and gorillas. There will also be 10% discounts on all online tickets, zoo memberships and animal adoption packages available until Sunday 29 November. Animals available for adoption include penguins, chimpanzees, giraffes, meerkats, flamingos, ring-tailed lemurs, orangutans, elephants and snow leopards. Zoo membership entitles holders to a year of unlimited entry to Twycross Zoo as well as discounted entry to several other zoos around the country. Members are also entitled to savings on the zoo’s soft play facilities and gift shop items, and allows friends and family entrance at a discounted price when accompanied by a card holder.

Sharon Leeson, Director of Marketing says, “With Christmas approaching we know that people are on the lookout for great presents. Becoming a member of Twycross Zoo is a fantastic gift that offers real value for money allowing people to visit us as many times as they want during the year . The zoo is always changing and improving, and not only do we have baby animals arriving in all seasons, but  we  will be opening our brand new Gibbon Forest exhibit in the New Year, so it’s a perfect time to take advantage of the discount and become a member.”

From Saturday 28 November Twycross Zoo will also be opening the doors of its Christmas Grotto in its Himalaya Centre, welcoming in the festive season. Children who visit Santa will receive a gift, a professional souvenir photograph and a voucher for free admission to the zoo when accompanied by two full paying adults, an offer which extends until the end of January 2016. Zoo members will also receive 20% discount off all retail and catering purchases at the zoo from 28 November to 24 December.

Charlotte Macdonald, Director of Life Sciences says, “It might be cold outside but there is still plenty of fun to be had at Twycross Zoo this Christmas. Our animals will be opening their own presents filled with special treats, and visitors can help our Education Rangers make bird feeders to help native species in our own back yards. We will have a special festive zoo trail stopping by some of our more wintery animals like the snow leopards and penguins, and you can always get warm in our tropical Butterfly Forest.”

Details of all the events taking place at Twycross Zoo this Christmas period can be found on its website along with Terms & Conditions. Twycross Zoo is open to the public from 10.00 to 17.00. For more information and to book tickets visit or call 0844 474 1777.
