Fantastic Wildlife, Farm and Animal Parks To Visit This Summer

Stuck for something to do with the kids this summer?  As well as having fun children, farms and wildlife parks can be educational too not just for the kids but the whole family!  And if you have a great time, why not recommend it to your children's school for their next educational visits day out?

Bedfordshire

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, Whipsnade, Dunstable LU6 2LF

Situated on the Dunstable Downs this is the sister zoo to London Zoo and the largest zoo in the UK.  Be a keeper for the day, have a sleep over or join the Zoo Academy this two-day course is a great programme for those who are interested in animals and want to learn more in the zoo!  With themed games, challenges, trail and some zookeeper activities!

Birmingham

The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham, The Waters Edge, Brindley Pl, Birmingham B1 2HL  You don't have to go to the seaside to see over 2000 creatures.  Talks throughout the day, interactive displays and a touching pool

will keep everyone happy for hours.

Cumbria

South Lakes Safari Zoo,  Melton Terrace, Lindal-in-Furness, Ulverston, Cumbria, LA12 0LU 

A natural park with free roaming animals situated in beautiful surrounding with over 1,000 of the rarest, most endangered animals in unique natural environments enables the visitor to get as close as physically possible to  experience the sights, sounds, and a few smells, of these amazing creatures we share our planet with... Hampshire

New Forest Wildlife Park, Deerleap Lane, Southampton SO40 4UH Located within the New Forest National Park is the fabulous wildlife park and adventure playground.  See bison, polecats, owls wolves and wild boar and more.  

Lincolnshire 

Skegness Natureland Seal Sanctuary, North Parade, Skegness PE25 1DB 
Natureland is well known for rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned and injured seals that become stranded on Lincolnshire beaches. Come and learn about the rescue work the centre does and see the seals they have rescued in their various stages of rehabilitation.  As well as the seals there are plenty of other amazing animals to see.   Watch the amusing antics of the penguins, be amazed by the tropical butterflies, squirm at the reptiles and creepy crawlies, feed the goats in the Pets Corner and marvel at the beautiful tropical fish in the Aquarium. 

London

ZSL London Zoo, Regent's Park, London NW1 4RY 
A wonderful zoo in the heart of London. ZSL London Zoo has been educating and inspiring visitors since opening to the public in 1847. With over 750 incredible species, exciting and innovative exhibits it’s a great day out in the capital for all ages.

WWT London Wetland Centre, Queen Elizabeth's Walk, Barnes, London SW13 9WT   If you live anywhere within London then we would recommend visiting this wonderful centre where a whole new world of discovery awaits you at WWT Wetland Centres. There’s trails ablaze with wildlife, encounters with some of the world’s most endangered birds and exhilarating adventure playgrounds for little explorers. 

Nottingham

The White Post Modern Farm, Mansfield Road, Newark NG22 8HL is a great day out for all the family. 

For 20 this farm park has been entertaining millions of kids and adults, giving them the chance to get up close to thousands of friendly animals, like chicks, llamas, rabbits, cows and pigs.

The farm’s open every day of the year (Apart from Christmas Day & Boxing Day!) and with lots   to do, rain or shine, it’s perfect for family days out, school trips and birthday parties. As well as meeting the animals, you can zoom around on go-karts, catch a seasonal show, do a little shopping or even pick up a new pet! 

Oxfordshire

Cotswold Wildlife Park, Bradwell Grove, Burford OX18 4JP 
Situated in beautiful parkland is the largest privately owned zoological collection in the UK.  Be a keeper for the day and help feed the animals.  Take a train ride around the park stopping off to view the animals on the way.

Shropshire

Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom,Preston on the Weald Moors, Telford TF6 6DJ,

Plenty of hands on activities will keep the kids entertained for hours.  With over 400 animals there is plenty to see.  Meet the resident owls, help with feeding the lambs and enjoy watching the Sheep Steeplechase.  

Staffordshire

Trentham Monkey Forest, Stone Road, Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST48 AX
This unique attraction lets visitors get and indepth insight into the lives of the Monkeys living in total freedom as they would do in Morocco or Algeria.  The woodland trail allows you to walk amongst them and there are guides situated along the path who will provide you with interesting information about them.  

The Trentham Estate is home to several great attractions, including Trentham Monkey Forest.  Each attraction is operated seperately, and has its own management, opening times and prices. 

West Sussex

WWT Arundel Wetland Centre, Mill Rd, Arundel BN18 9PB  
Spot water voles from the boat safari, hand feed rare geese at World Wetlands and stroll gentle pathways to quiet spots to watch Sussex wildlife. Stunning views from the café make it perfect for relaxing, and kids will love the play areas and pond dipping.

Tyne & Wear

WWT Washington Wetland Centre, Pattinson Rd, Washington NE38 8LE 
Get close to rare and exotic birds, mammals and different wetland habitats. Walk with a warden, bug hunt or tour the duckery. You’ll also see colourful flamingos and the rarest goose in the world

Warwickshire

Stratford Butterfly Park, Swans Nest, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 7LS  
Rain of shine this discover many of the world's most beautiful butterflies in an exotic environment of tropical blossom.  How relaxing it is to sit in a tranquil environment and listen to the sound of splashing waterfalls and sit by fish filled pools on a hot day.

Hatton Adventure World, Dark Lane, Hatton, Warwick CV35 8XA
For a fun filled day then Hatton Adventure World combines activities for all ages. The Tractor Safari takes visitors on informative rides around the farm, watch breath-taking falconry demonstrations as stunning birds of prey take flight – you can even handle a hawk!  Want to tire them out?  Well there are trampolines, bouncy castles, the drop slide (not for the faint-hearted) and the Laser Combat Zone – a fun, strategy-building team game where children score points by ‘tagging’ the ‘enemy’ with harmless, infra-red light beams. 

For younger children there is a sensory zone and soft play area for the tiniest visitors. Toddlers can pedal to their heart’s content on a JCB track or say hello to animals in the fields. If they’re feeling brave they can feed the cheeky pigs and goats, or pay a visit to the Guinea Pig Village, home to 250 little bundles of fluff just waiting for a cuddle. Children’s shows take place throughout the day and there are regular informative talks about the animals by friendly, enthusiastic staff. Alternatively, seek your fortune panning for ‘gold’ at the Gold Rush fields.

East Yorkshire

The Deep,Tower St, Hull HU1 4DP  
One of the most spectacular aquariums in the world, is located in Hull, East Yorkshire. This award-winning attraction is home to 3,500 fish including magnificent sharks and rays. The dramatic building, which overlooks the Humber estuary, was designed by world class architects, Sir Terry Farrell and Partners. Scarborough is a fantastic destination for a holiday or day out.  Combine two of our favourite attractions by visiting the Sea Life Centre situated on the North Bay where you can enjoy meeting the cheeky Humboldt penguins and coming face to face with five different species of sharks.

Afterwards take a train ride on the North Bay Railway, Burniston Rd, Scarborough YO12 6PF  a miniature railway that runs from the Sealife Centre to Peasholm Park in the centre of the town, where there is a wide range of attractions including the Glass House Café, Sky Trail, Boating Lake and Historic Water Chute.
