Written by: Elmtree Press

The Helicopter Museum is the largest dedicated helicopter museum in the world, with a collection of more than 80 helicopters and autogyros, both civilian and military, from across the globe! There is also a film theatre, Interactive Zone, themed children’s play area, a café, and a gift shop.

The collection includes 2 aircraft of the Queen’ Royal Flights, the ‘Huey’ Bell UH-1H, an impressive Russian Hind Gunship, the massive 36 seat Super Frelon, and World Record Speed holder Westward Lynx GLynx! There is also the unique opportunity to watch conservation work taking place in the restoration hangar! The museum also contains several parts of the XCH62, a prototype of the largest helicopter ever built in the western countries.

The museum holds regular Open Cockpit days that allow visitors the rare opportunity to access certain helicopter cockpits and have the controls explained by a friendly guide, great full for all the family! Experience flights are also available, which involve a 15mile flight along the local coastline while you learn all about how rotorcraft work via commentary from an experienced pilot.

The Museum is a mobility friendly attraction with wheelchair access to all areas.
