Visit York – City of History, Stunning Architecture and World Class Museums

With its rich culture and history York has some of the finest museums in the country and all within walking distance of the pedestrian centre. This beautiful city, with its magnificent architecture is also an ideal base for exploring further into Yorkshire. This trip is for history and RE but Yorkshire is also ideal for most subject areas and age groups.

DAY 1 Visit York’s Chocolate Story to discover the history of chocolate in the City as well as a chocolate making demonstration. Arrive in York mid-afternoon and settle in to your accommodation. After dinner, enjoy a guided Ghost Walk around the city.
DAY 2 A morning Visit to Jorvik Viking Centre followed by a visit to DIG Archaeological Adventure Centre.
Have lunch on a River Ouse Boat Trip then explore the myriad of interesting shops and soak up the atmosphere of this vibrant city. After dinner at your accommodation, enjoy a fun evening ten pin bowling.
DAY 3 Visit the National Railway Museum then take an open top bus tour around the city and see all the spectacular sites of York. In the afternoon visit York Minster for an educational tour of this incredible cathedral then head back for dinner. In the evening, dare you step inside York Dungeon where all York’s horrible histories come to life?
DAY 4 Visit Let Loose near Beverley and, depending on the weather enjoy indoor or outdoor activities such as High Level Ropes Course, Climbing Wall, the Helter Skelter and more. After lunch continue your journey home.
