Written by: Elmtree Press

Bring your pupils along for a visit at ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo and discover all that ZSL has to offer. Explore and enjoy, learn and get closer than ever to our animals with our daily events.

With a special program designed to fit school groups of all shapes and sizes, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is the perfect education choice.

Boasting a diverse, highly skilled and award winning Discovery & Learning Team, we provide unique learning sessions for all ages and abilities. Linked to the National Curriculum and Examination Board syllabi, we aim to deliver interactive experiences using resources such as live animals, biofacts and multimedia.

In 2016, ZSL is very proud to be opening Land of the Lions at ZSL London Zoo. This will be the biggest and most breath-taking experience ever at ZSL London Zoo, and be home to a pride of endangered Asiatic lions to the vibrant setting of Sasan Gir in India, the lions’ wild home.

There will also be an exciting new learning space in the heart of the exhibit. This new space will create an exceptional opportunity for students to learn more about the topics of biodiversity, interdependence, and how humans and animals coexist in harmony in the unique Gir Forest environment in Gujurat, India.

At ZSL London Zoo we have five exciting new sessions for all schooling levels this year, including an awesome new KS2 maths session called ‘Wild 4 Maths’. At ZSL Whipsnade Zoo we have a variety of sessions run at our animal enclosures, including Giraffe Behaviour Study (KS2 & Post-16), Tiger Trackers (KS2), Minibeast investigate (KS1 & KS2), Colours of the Zoo (KS2), Fairy Tales Tour (EYFS and KS1) and Animal Behaviour and Learning (KS3).

Also in 2016, at both ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo we are running Digital Outreach sessions, where we link up to your classroom via Skype live from the zoo. These sessions can be used to extend learning after a zoo visit, or can be standalone sessions hosted by a member of our Discovery & Learning team and designed to meet specific National Curriculum links that directly relate to our conservation work.
