Celtic Harmony School Trips

Written by: Elmtree Press

Lots of exciting things are taking place at Celtic Harmony Camp, the UK’s largest Iron Age settlement. They have expanded their range of Residential Trips, now offering both 1 and 2 night adventures into Prehistory. These offer an incredible opportunity to boost the confidence, team-building and independence of your class as well as providing the unique experience of a sleepover in an authentic roundhouse.

Their 2 day 1 night Prehistory Explorer will guide your pupils through the Stone and Iron Ages, with activities including friction fire lighting, woodland shelter building, archery, team building games and a bat walk.

Their 3 day 2 night Prehistory Adventure includes all of the Explorer activities plus a day in the life of a Bronze Age Farmer. This day will demonstrate where our food comes from through activities such as grinding grain on a quern stone, spinning wool, and cooking with herbs.

The Go Tribal Transition is a 3 day 2 night residential focused on bushcraft skills and encourages children to build resilience and problem solving skills. This action-packed trip includes cooking on real fires, wilderness first aid and primitive pottery.

On a Prehistory Explorer Residential, your pupils are guided by costumed educators through Ancient Britain at Celtic Harmony Camp, the UK’s largest Iron Age settlement. Moving from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, your pupils take part in hands-on activities such as weaving, warrior training, orienteering and roasting marshmallows. Pupils also enjoy an overnight stay in one of the authentic roundhouses, equipped with insulation, heating and lighting, and develop teamwork skills and independence on their Prehistory adventure.

"One of the best aspects of the residential was that the children were able to take part in practical activities. The children benefited most from working as a team and learning with practical tasks in the outdoors" Miss Lincoln, St Nicholas May 2018
