The Centre for Alternative Technology near beautiful Snowdonia - Europe’s leading Eco- Centre has been offering practical solutions with sustainable technologies for over 40 years. It has the ideal venue for providing experiential and hands- on learning experiences for all educational levels from primary to special needs up to post graduate.

Our seven-acre interactive educational display site  shows working technologies on  all aspects of sustainable living including renewable technology, low carbon building, Zero Carbon Britain, food, water and more.

  A stimulating, creative and engaging environment, CAT also boasts a water balance cliff top railway, adventure playground, giant underground mole hole, a lake, reservoir and numerous nature walks.

Our education team  delivers  a broad range of  environmental tuition including tours, talks workshops which cover STEM,  Welsh Baccalaureate, Geography, ESD, global issues,  literacy, numeracy and critical thinking.We cater for day visit groups or those wanting to stay for longer for a more immersive experience in our stunningly located eco cabins.

Residential stays at the eco- cabins at CATprovide an amazing learning opportunity about energy and water resources. Visitors  assess their own energy and inputs and outputs and monitor their water usage. With more time at CAT, pupils can participate in a broader range of activities including sensory walks, co-operative games and role play sessions.
