The natural world is something that children of all ages can discover, and our outdoor classroom offers endless learning opportunities from EYFS through to KS3 and beyond.
The range of learning environments available lend themselves naturally to a cross-curricular approach in subject areas such as Maths, English, Science, Geography, History, Art, Design and Technology, Music and PE.
We are passionate about nature and the environment, and we want to inspire the next generation to love the world around them as much as we do.
School children are charged at £4.20 per child (under 4s are free) and one adult for every ten children is admitted free. Additional adults are charged at the group entry rate of £8.00
Entry to the Birds of Prey and Wildlife Centre is included in the cost of your visit, and you are welcome to attend one of the captivating flying displays held throughout the day.
We provide every group with a free activity pack, which contains a range of ideas for study in the classroom before your visit, things to do on the day, and ideas for applying your new-found knowledge and skills in your school setting.
We have a basic completed risk assessment available for your use, and offer the opportunity for one member of staff per ~30 children to visit prior to your trip. This gives the chance to look around, tweak the risk assessment for specific activities, and see the Education Garden.
Picnics are welcome and our tearoom is open all day serving hot and cold drinks, lunches, cakes and treats. The tearoom offers a dedicated children’s menu and there are several highchairs available for very young children.
Disabled visitors are most welcome. The majority of the Arboretum is wheelchair accessible, and we have mobility scooters available for hire. Carers are admitted free of charge.
