RHS Garden Harlow Carr

RHS Garden Harlow Carr

Get gardening in this horticulturally diverse setting and discover an inspiring garden where children can let their imagination grow

RHS Garden Harlow Carr

Set across 58 acres, RHS Garden Harlow Carr offers school groups lots of exciting environments to explore including Meadows, Woodland, Kitchen Gardens and much more. Students can learn about gardening, sustainability, wildlife and the environment – all in exciting, diverse and plant-filled surroundings with fantastic facilities. All our activities are interactive and practical with a focus on learning through play, exploration, working together and asking questions.  As well as our guided visits, with workshops for Primary and Secondary schools, we also have a range of resources for self-guided visits covering many parts of the school curriculum including art, numeracy and the natural world.

Since opening in 2010, Bramall Learning Centre at Harlow Carr has welcomed over 110,000 students on educational visits. Dedicated equipment at the Centre means pupils can carry out scientific experiments and look closely at specimens from the gardens, while the Montague Burton Teaching Garden and Glasshouse give an outdoor space for learners to explore and get hands-on.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is the UK’s leading gardening charity, committed to engaging children with the natural world of the garden and inspiring an understanding of science. We think learning how to sow seeds and care for plants will enthuse the next generation to get growing and build a happier, healthier and greener future!
