Take time to study spectacular art, discover the dinosaur that once roamed Bristol, see original Banksy works, find out fascinating facts about fossils, get up close to Egyptian mummies, handle objects from ancient Greece and immerse yourself in natural history. Bristol Museum & Art Gallery is home to world class collections and local history, just waiting for you to explore!  Temporary exhibitions and special events are also held throughout the year. 2023 is the 200th anniversary of the forerunner of Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, and exhibitions and events will run throughout the year to celebrate, with accompanying learning events.

School workshops offer interactive learning experiences. Children step out of the classroom and back into the past as they handle real museum objects, meet experts, participate in role play and storytelling, and carry out hands-on activities designed with age and learning needs in mind. These are some of the workshop topics available to book:

Ancient Egypt
Ancient Greeks
Stone Age to Iron Age
Talking Pictures (Literacy through paintings)

In addition, special offers and themed events for schools such as Rocks and Soils Week and Dinosaur Takeover run alongside the programme of temporary exhibitions and other museum projects. You can keep up-to-date with the latest learning news through the termly e-newsletter.

Coach and adult educational groups are also welcome. Bristol Museums can tailor itineraries to meet your group travel needs. From ‘behind the scenes tours’ and ‘meet the curator’ experiences to special gallery talks and reserved tables in the café – we will do our best to tailor the offer to meet your needs.
