Nestled within the South Downs National park with a variety of wetland habitats to explore WWT Arundel Wetland Centre offers a great discovery experience to all learners. Summer is a great time of the year to come and visit the reserve bursting with wetland wildlife.
Watch ducklings and goslings grow and explore the noises of wetland wildlife as you stroll around. Listen out for the pitter-patter of tiny webbed feet or the chirping of all those hungry mouths. Why not take-up one of our learning sessions like ‘‘what are the differences between birds?’’ to discover the adaptations that will help them survive.

Pond dipping is back again. Dip into the underwater world of mini-beasts through our popular session ‘‘what lives in a pond?’’. Alternatively choose to compare both land and pond creatures and find out how they have evolved to the terrestrial compared to the aquatic environment; this session is called ‘’which invertebrates live in a wetland?’’

Summer is also a fabulous time of the year to take a ride on our electric boat safari. Glide quietly through the reed-beds and meadows of the Wetland Discovery area. Keep your eyes peeled for Little Grebes, Water Voles, Gadwall and lots of other exciting sightings. This habitat was recreated specifically with the water voles in mind. We helped these elusive mammals come back from the brink of extinction and make the Arundel Wetland Centre their home.

Whether you’re looking for hands on exploratory investigation, scientific based enquiry led activities or just a fun introduction to the natural world, our team of educators are flexible and can tailor each session to the needs of your group.

The summer term is already filling up fast, so book early to avoid disappointment.
