Get immersed in the outdoors at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre

We are springing into summer here at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre. The summer migrants are arriving and nesting, giving voice and flaunting their plumage to attract a mate. The buds are bursting and the leaves are pushing through. It’s a great time to learn about new life and to see lots of baby birds.

Summer term is a great time to visit WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre to experience the way wetland wildlife develops as seasons changing from spring to summer. See our little flocks of ducklings, gaggles of gosling and flotillas of cygnets. They soon learn how to approach people to feed out of your hands. This experience of getting close to nature is inspiring for all the many children who come here during the summer term.

The wide range of wetland habitats provides an exciting opportunity for learners to investigate with sessions in the woodland on ‘How do animals live in this habitat?’ or ‘What do birds eat?’ session around our waterfowl gardens, where the variety of duck life and courtship behaviour is fascinating, including our fabulous pink flamingos.

We also have Pond Zone sessions where learners can enjoy hands-on discovery and outdoor investigations which answer the question ‘What happens to water?’ or ‘How do animals live in a pond?’

The summer term is already filling up fast, so book early to avoid disappointment.
