Marwell Zoo’s biggest ever exhibit, Energy for Life: Tropical House, is now open. This marks the second phase of a £17m investment programme for the zoo over the next 8-10 years, creating improved habitats for animals and more immersive experiences for guests. The £8m exhibit spans two levels offering fantastic vantage points across a lush, tropical canopy and the opportunity to experience the captivating life of the forest floor. Share the habitat and enjoy uninterrupted, close-up views of new, colourful and charismatic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects. Powered by Marwell’s animal waste, the new exhibit will significantly reduce their carbon footprint.

To tie in with the new rainforest exhibit, they will be offering a new ‘All About Animals’ workshop for EYFS. It will focus on rainforests and will feature some of the species in the new exhibit. Keep an eye out online for new resources to support a trip round the Tropical House.

If you are looking for a more story based workshop then you may prefer one of their ‘Sally the stick insect’ sessions. There are 2 sessions to choose from, including ‘Sally’s Journey’ which uses a storybook about Sally the stick insect's search for a new home, and ‘Sally’s Friends’ which focuses on the rainforest and is based around a tea party. Workshop spaces are booking fast, so get in quick and see where Sally's stories will take your class.

Marwell Zoo is the perfect setting to inspire care for the natural world amongst your pupils. Their workshops offer a hands-on and immersive learning environment where children can find out about a range of different animals, habitats and conservation. There are a range of curriculum linked workshops on offer that cover various science and geography topics, throughout all key stages. Remember – spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
