EXPLORE THE WORLD OF PHYSICS AT THE NVM

February 11, 2023 12:00 am to February 19, 2023 12:00 am

The National Videogame Museum delves into the world of physics this half term where the museum will be hosting a very special event. Jointly created by the University of Sheffield, CERN and the NVM, children and adults alike can take a virtual guided tour through the world’s largest man made machine, the Large Hadron Collider. Learn all about particle physics, its importance to our lives and discover the research that takes place at the LHC’s
facilities.

Running alongside, will be physics based activities for children of all ages to take part in as well as a newly installed Physics Exhibit. This will feature six playable videogames that demonstrate the use of physics within videogames. Learn how the games utilise real life research into replicating the realism of physics within gameplay, graphics and design.

Alongside over 100 playable games, discover expertly curated exhibits, including several new installations to explore. Play the 1978 arcade classic Space Invaders alongside its sequels, spin offs and clones to discover how the game has evolved to maintain its
popularity over 40 years later.

A second new exhibit shines a light on a Nintendo icon, Japanese designer and engineer of the Famicom, Masayuki Uemura. Discover how his creations changed gaming forever through four playable games and a two cabinet display featuring stunning rare objects, including Nintendo’s first ever games console – and it isn’t what you think it might be!

The NVM will be open every day from the 11th – 19th February from 10am.
