KidZania London – the indoor city run by kids at Westfield London, Shepherd’s Bush – is excited to announce its action packed winter line up, boasting a series of special events, new partners and bonus gifts for schools who visit during the festive season and beyond, helping to bring the school curriculum to life.
Back by popular demand, STEM Fair returns from Wednesday 5th - Sunday 9th December 2018, in collaboration with fantastic STEM organisations and businesses including: the Royal Aeronautical Society, NHS Blood and Transport with Team Margot and WaterAid. Activities and workshops are designed to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths skills and careers, and support the learning criteria of pupils throughout Key Stage 1–3.
December STEM Fair (Wednesday 5th - Sunday 9th December 2018) activities will include:
• WaterAid Workshop: Experience WaterAid’s Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, taking children on a journey across the world showing how clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene enables everyone, everywhere to fulfil their potential
• The Royal Aeronautical Society: Visit the Cool Aeronautics stand to see what it’s like to think like a real aeronautical engineer with a fun hands-on design activity designed to teach kids about some of the thought-processes behind engineerable solutions
And seeing as it’s the season of good will, savvy schools booking a visit in December will also receive an amazing Christmas gift from KidZania. Every school who books a class trip from December 1 through to December 24 will get to open one of the doors in KidZania’s giant advent calendar, revealing a suite of incredible prizes; including a one-day cricket training programme with Middlesex Cricket, musical equipment courtesy of Roland, free books, and a bespoke day with Super Camps worth £675*!
Continuing into 2019, KidZania’s Careers Fair will return on Wednesday 23rd to Friday 25th January 2019. Designed to inspire the business leaders of the future, visitors to the city can meet and greet real-life professionals to gain valuable insight into a ‘day in the life of’ a whole host of careers. These include: real-life cabin crew and pilots from British Airways perfect for aspiring pilots and engineers, and the data scientists from the Alan Turing Institute – for kids looking to be the next big name in robotics or a world class codebreaker!
January Careers Fair (Wednesday 23rd - Friday 25th January 2019) activities will include:
• British Airways: British Airways will be hosting STEM-focused interactive activities, based around maintaining more than 280 aircraft. The engineering activities will give young people an insight into the complexities behind aircraft components, and how each piece plays a vital part in ensuring how to transport travellers all around the world.
• The Alan Turing Institute: Science isn’t just about test tubes and goggles, data science explores much more. Are your students the next big name in robotics? Have you got a world-class codebreaker in the making? Join us at The Alan Turing Institute activity where we’ll put your brain to the test using our state-of-the-art gadgets and through fun activities such as bracelet-making and dancing.
KidZania believes in ‘Learning by Doing’. By bringing the classroom to life in the city, it aims to boost children’s curiosity and imagination through curriculum-based real-life activities.
