LEGO® Lake District at Windermere Jetty Museum
LEGO® Lake District is on until 8 October 2023 at Windermere Jetty Museum.
You can expect to see a big model of the Lake District created entirely out of LEGO® bricks inside the museum. There is a themed mini figure hunt, can you find them all? From now until the end of the summer holidays, there are trays of LEGO® bricks for children and their grown-ups to create their own boats, buildings, landscapes or art out of bricks. Let your imagination run wild!
An impressive ten square metre long replica of the Lake District, built by artist Jon Tordoff out of LEGO® bricks offers the opportunity to explore and discover the beautiful landscape of the Lake District in a unique way. Alongside the exhibition, there will also be exciting LEGO® activities and workshops for enthusiasts of all ages.
It represents some of the Lake District National Park’s most dynamic features including fells, woodlands, lakes and waterfalls. Currently, the replica features Buttermere, Crummock Water, Honister Pass, Borrowdale, Derwent Water and is approaching into Keswick. The model continues to grow, with aspirations for it to include more recognisable landscapes from across the Lake District, including Windermere.
Artist Jon Tordoff put down his paint brushes and picked up the LEGO® bricks to create this expansive scale-model of the Lake District. Originally an oil painter, Tordoff began building his LEGO® Lake District during the COVID pandemic as a hobby in his Derbyshire Cottage. The hobby has since grown into an ambitious project, with the model currently being made up of 200,000 pieces and spanning 60 boards. The project reflects Tordoff’s love for the Lake District and his exploration of its beautiful landscapes.
LEGO® Lake District offers a unique and creative exploration of the landscape that is on our doorstep.
On Saturday 22 July there will be a live build with the artist Jon Tordoff and other activities happening on site from 10am-5pm.
