2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 26 – Together For Our Planet

2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 26 – Together For Our Planet

This weekend Glasgow Scottish Event Campus (SEC) is hosting the 26th Conference of the Parties, known as COP26. The conference begins on Sunday 31st October – Friday November 12th and many see this as the last chance to bring nations together to agree on how to save our planet. This conference should have taken place last year but due to the pandemic was cancelled. The Queen, due to her health has also cancelled addressing the conference in person and will instead address the delegates via zoom a bitter blow for the Government who were relying on her speech to have an impact on the conference and those watching.

With delegates from all over the world expected to attend, COP26 is designed to produce an international response to the climate emergency. Glasgow is a perfect host with a carbon neutral target of 2030 and a city rating of 4th in the world in the Global Destination Sustainability Index. We think that now, more than ever, is a vital time to be talking about this all-important issue and we can all play our part at home, school or in leisure time. During the coming year as well as discussing global issues, we will be promoting what is happening at attractions around the country and how they are reducing their carbon footprint.
