SEA LIFE Scarborough
Here at SEA LIFE Scarborough we offer a truly unique alternative for your school trip whilst fitting perfectly with the KS1 and KS2 curriculum!
We have over 2,000 amazing creatures for your class to learn about including sharks, seals, penguins, clownfish, rays and many more.
Your class will come face-to-fin in a JAW-DROPPING array of amazing creatures, learn to waddle on Penguin Island with 22 Humboldt Penguins literally at their feet and they’ll be able to follow the journey of rehabilitating Seals in Yorkshire’s Only Seal Hospital.
You are free to attend our regular talk and feeding demonstrations and get hands-on in our interactive rock pool experience where you can touch a starfish and hold a crab shell!
SEA LIFE Scarborough offers Self-Guided Tours and Workshops catering for early years, KS1 and KS2. We combine active, hands-on learning with fascinating educational talks and an opportunity to have an up-close and personal view into our amazing aquatic world for your ultimate school trip!
Early Years children can enjoy a workshop created especially for them, where the ability to identify and describe sea creatures is encouraged.
Key stage 2 students have a range of workshops available, all relevant to the national curriculum. Choose from workshops that encourage students to think about the importance of animal welfare, or look at creatures habitats and adaptation and consider the challenges of different micro-habitats in the ocean.
We also invite students to become Sea Defenders! In this conservation workshop they will investigate it is important to protect our oceans, raising awareness of their own relationships with the ocean and how their daily actions can positively or negatively affect the marine environment. Students should be inspired to make changes in their lifestyle and actively contribute towards solutions.
Free lesson plans for the classroom to support the visit are available to download from our website. The Education team for SEA LIFE UK worked closely with teachers to develop both these free plans. We also offer a teacher subscription service to the SEA LIFE Hub, containing a wealth of content updated regularly for teachers to use throughout the year.
