Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens

Cannon Hall Museum is a stunning Georgian country house set in 70 acres of historic parkland. It is the perfect place to immerse your pupils in their local history topic.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the past in the wonderful surroundings of the grand hall and its grounds. Built for the wealthy Spencer-Stanhope family, based your class in our historic and grand rooms filled with wonderful art and collections. Visit below stairs, explore the kitchens to see where all the hard work happens, or be inspired by the De Morgan collection to try your hand at a range of activities. Book an immersive trip and be transported back into the past with our Victorian or WW2 workshops, or support your core Curriculum work with our maths or literacy workshops. If you’re looking for classroom resources, why not hire one of our beautifully created loan boxes, full of real objects related to Barnsley people. Or bring your topic to the classroom with one of our online sessions – Virtual Victorians or Evacuees Online. There’s something for everyone at Cannon Hall!
