Life Science Centre Newcastle upon Tyne

Life is an award-winning Science Centre in the heart of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which offers a varied programme of exhibitions across the year, as well as the best planetarium in the North. The Science Centre also features the hands-on Curiosity Zone, where visitors can learn to think like real scientists, as well as live demonstrations in the Science Theatre and the fun-filled 4D Motion Ride!* Life also runs an ice-rink from late November through to mid-February, which makes a great end –of-year treat!

Life’s education team work from a purpose-built suite of teaching laboratories where students at every level can take part in exciting, hands-on workshops. Our workshops are directly linked to the STEM national curriculum, so teachers can easily find a workshop to support their current topic of study.

The Science Centre hosts a variety of travelling exhibitions throughout the year. The education team work to develop additional workshops that are relevant to the exhibition, whilst keeping them firmly curriculum-focused. A full list of workshops can be found at www.life.org.uk/education/workshops-and-activities.

For schools unable to reach Newcastle we can also offer Outreach workshops. Please contact the Bookings team on 0191 243 8223 to discuss your requirements; they can even help you craft your own bespoke visit and workshop with a personalised itinerary, taking the stress out of planning a school visit!
