The Roman Baths

The Roman Baths

The Roman Baths is one of the finest ancient spas in Europe. This incredible Roman site allows visitors to experience a world dating from the first to the fourth century AD.

The Roman Baths

The Roman Baths is situated in the centre of the beautiful city of Bath, designated a World Heritage Site, and is one of the finest historic sites in Northern Europe. Consisting of the remarkably preserved remains of one of the greatest religious spas of the ancient world. The city’s unique thermal springs rise in the site and the Baths still flow with natural hot water.

Schools can explore the Roman Baths, walk on the original Roman pavements and see the ruins of the Temple of Sulis Minerva. The museum collection, located next to the bathing complex, includes a gilt bronze head of the Goddess Sulis Minerva, and other Roman artefacts.

A state-of-the-art learning centre expands the Roman Baths’ learning offer and it also offers virtual classroom sessions for those who are not able to make a visit.

The Clore Learning Centre also includes unique underground access to the Roman Baths and a hands-on archaeological investigation zone where students can dig for ‘Roman’ artefacts. There is also dedicated storage, accessible toilets and a lunch room.
