Field Studies Council – South West

There is no substitute for first-hand experiences in nature. FSC school trips bring classroom learning to life to develop skills such as resilience and independence; and building relationships with peers.

FSC Slapton Ley is located within the South Devon AONB and is close to Dartmoor National Park and urban centres in Plymouth and Torbay. The Centre welcomes KS1 to post-graduate students. The Centre can sleep 140 visitors in 42 bedrooms and is within easy reach of the M5 and mainline train station at Totnes.

Slapton Ley is the largest natural lake in south-west England. Although it is only separated from the sea by a narrow shingle bar, it is entirely freshwater. The lake is surrounded by reedbeds, marshes and woodland habitats making it a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

FSC Nettlecombe Court lies in a secluded valley in Exmoor National Park. The Centre is perfectly located for all things coastal and is suitable for KS1 to post-graduate students. Nettlecombe Court can sleep 120 visitors and has excellent access to the Jurassic coast, Exmoor National Park (a dark skies area) and The Quantocks AONB.
