Bristol Zoo Gardens

Bristol Zoo Gardens is a leading visitor attraction, with over 400 species of animals, within a stunning garden setting.  We’re also an award-winning conservation and education charity, meaning we’re in the unique position to teach people about biodiversity, conservation and the natural world, making us the ideal destination for an educational school trip!

Bristol Zoo Gardens offers competitive group rates for active learning at its best.

We offer interactive education sessions to:

•    All ages from early years to degree level
•    All ability groups including  those with special and/or additional needs
•    Childrens’ clubs and uniformed groups
•    Foreign language groups
•    Home Educating families

Education sessions take place in themed classrooms in the Conservation Education Centre and feature live animals. Sessions can be linked to the National Curriculum, or specific syllabi as required.

Our themed classrooms help create an exciting learning environment, sometimes with sound effects. Live animals that can be held, touched or viewed at very close quarters are used in all sessions.  Animals include reptiles, small mammals and invertebrates. We also use biofacts such as skins, furs, tusks, horns, shells and mounted specimens.  Short film clips are also often shown to support your chosen topic.

We offer sessions for each key stage. Click here for further details.

Sessions last from 45 minutes for EYFS, 55 minutes for KS1 – KS3; 55 minutes or longer for 14-19.
We can accommodate up to 30 students aged 3- 14 and up to 25 students aged 14+ per session.

Our Bristol Zoo Keepers and Rangers are animal experts – make sure you catch a fascinating daily talk or feed. The Amazing Animal shows feature our trained animals demonstrating their remarkable skills and adaptations. Talks, feeds and shows are all free of charge. Click here for further details.

Spend some time relaxing in our beautiful gardens – a lovely place for children and adults alike to enjoy! Children can run around in the maze, play in the playground, or challenge themselves on the high ropes course Zooropia, which features a high level climbing and balancing course. Click here for further details.

If you can’t make it to the Zoo for a trip, but would still like your group to benefit from an education session, we are more than happy to come to you! Click here for further details.

As well as our amazing education sessions we also offer a whole host of learning opportunities like our Conservation Lectures and Discovery Days for uniformed groups. Click here for further details.
