An introduction to Bristol Museums
Bristol Museums’ Learning programme is delivered across five historic sites: Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, M Shed, Blaise Castle House Museum, The Red Lodge Museum and The Georgian House Museum.
The Learning Team develop school workshops with your curriculum needs in mind, we offer everything from Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greeks to Rocks & Soils and Art sessions. At our historic houses we are able to bring history alive with a Tudor Portraits workshops and a literacy adventure in an 18th century Georgian townhouse. M Shed is a good choice for local history subjects where pupils can study Chocolate, Ships and Sailors, World War Two and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. There are also new Romans in Bristol and Anglo-Saxons workshops too!
Children learn through immersive experiences and real encounters. Sessions involve object handling, costumed role-play, meet the expert opportunities and special gallery activities that are tailored to age and curriculum needs.
Bristol Museums run a changing programme of temporary exhibition throughout the year. See here for details of latest exhibitions now and in the future
