Jewish Museum London
Our award winning workshops are designed for students to gain knowledge and understanding about Judaism as a living faith and as part of a long cultural and historical heritage.
Whether through online Virtual Classrooms session, an Outreach Visit to your school (London schools only) or a Museum Workshop, our expert Learning Team create safe spaces for your students to challenge perspectives, advocate for diversity and build relationships. Our sessions are experiential, inclusive and collections focused.
We inspire students to look at the world from a different point of view and connect with others.
We offer workshops from Key Stage 1 to 5 on topics of Judaism, Jewish history and Holocaust Education.
Our Discovering Judaism series of Workshops are interactive and multi-sensory designed to encourage pupils to learn about the vibrancy of Jewish religion and culture today. Students will explore Judaism through key objects, contemporary films and guided discussions to understand what it means to be Jewish in Britain today.
Our Exploring History series of workshops are object-based interactive workshops designed to engage students with the history of Jewish religion and culture in Britain. Workshops encourage pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies, and relationships between different groups.
Our Investigating the Holocaust series of Workshops are sensitive and through-provoking for years 5 and 6 and above. For Years 5 and 6 students, the workshops focus on key artefacts from our collection, learning about life in Europe in the run up to the Second World War and personal testimony of those rescued by the Kindertransport. For Secondary schools students, workshops will focus on looking closely at artefacts from our collection which stimulate deeper thinking and discussion relating to the Holocaust. The Museum also provides the opportunity for students to hear the testimony of Holocaust survivors and refugees from Nazism. Our programmes place a strong emphasis on enhancing students’ thinking skills, enquiry, interpretation, analysis and moral development, and are delivered by nationally recognised experts in the field.
We’ve designed a new three stream service for schools which enables you to book the programme that works best for you and your students. You can book with confidence knowing that cost for all our programmes; Virtual Classrooms, Outreach Visits and Museum Workshops are all the same. This means if you need to change from one programme to the other at short notice there is no delay. Simply get in touch and we’ll swap you over so no matter the situation your students can always access their learning.
Our Virtual Classrooms are innovative online facilitated sessions which connect straight into your classroom. They typically last 45-60mins long. Your students will see authentic objects in beautiful detail and have the chance to ask questions live to our educators. All sessions include pre and post workshop activities for the students.
Our Outreach Visits (for London Schools only) bring the Jewish Museum into your classroom to enable your students to participate in authentic and immersive experiences with our expert staff. They typically last 45-60 mins.
Our award-winning interactive Museum Workshops are founded on object handling and the opportunity to see our world renowned collection in person. Learn outside the classroom to bring new understanding of Judaism and Jewish history. Our Museum Workshops are 1.5-2 hours.
