SEA LIFE Manchester
Younger pupils’ curiosity will be peaked as they become top rock pool explorers while older students can learn more about our local conservation initiatives and our Breed, Rescue, Protect projects.
We work closely with schools to develop information that engages and inspires young people and is also relevant to the educational curriculum. Self-guided tours and educational workshops are available for schools on a daily basis.
There’s a range of workshops available suitable for preschool and key stages 1 & 2.
The Early Years workshop is suitable for pre-school children aged 3 to 5 years. It gives pupils a fun and memorable experience that helps them to ‘understand the world’ – one of the four learning and development requirements of the DfE Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
It involves the children learning basic facts about some of our key creatures (e.g. how many legs do starfish have etc.). After this group activity the pupils complete a poster activity and draw their own aquarium.
The Primary School Programme is perfect for introducing pupils to a range of scientific topics and encouraging excitement and curiosity about marine phenomena in the natural world. With workshop choices including ‘Who Eats Who?’ and ‘Save Our Seas’ It has been designed to support several core elements of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2.
