Leighton Hall

At Leighton Hall, we understand how difficult it is to organise a successful school trip where pupils have fun, encounter experiences that are not available to them in the classroom and perhaps, most importantly are risk assessed for your peace of mind.  All our school visits are carried out with the highest regard for the health, safety and welfare of the children taking part in them.

    Further Details
Leighton Hall has been assessed by LEA Risk Assessment Team and passed as a "Category A" site. All the activities have been developed with Key stage 1 and 2 in mind.

Just 10 mins drive from junction 35 on the M6, Leighton Hall stands in 1550 acres of parkland near Carnforth in Lancashire.  The lived in family home of the Gillow furniture making dynasty, the hall has no roped off areas and children are actively encouraged to sit on the furniture and really get involved.

A visit to Leighton Hall is not a stand alone trip. After enjoying a safe, fun and stimulating visit, continue your learning back in the classroom with our downloadable worksheets, and teachers notes.  The risk assessment is prepared and available from our website. www.leightonhall.co.uk
3 themed packages designed to fit into your cross curriculum

    Upstairs Downstairs

A wonderful chance to explore what life was life for Victorian Children. The Victorians come to life through role – playing, our funny stories and through antique household items which the children are encouraged to touch and feel.

    House and Homes

Comparing homes throughout the ages, by identifying how this home has changed over time.  Looking at why buildings look the way they are and understanding what different buildings are used for.

    Countryside Classroom

A series of outdoor trials of Leighton’s estate which include garden, woodland and field habitats. All trails enable children to see life cycles and life process in action.  The Countryside Classroom is self guided with clear visual boards to guide and inform along the way.  Outdoor clothing and suitable footwear are essential.

Our three packages are all cross curriculum based and fit into your school day. There’s time set aside to let off steam.  Your pupils can discover the Hungry Caterpillar Maze, follow the Tree Face Trail and hunt for creepy crawlies in the woodland walk. Each visit includes a birds of prey flying display in the summer season (weather permitting).
