Harewood House

Harewood House

Harewood is a wonderful place to learn, to enjoy being in nature and to feel inspired. There is so much to explore here, whether you are a family, a school group, community organisation or just someone eager to find out more.

Harewood House

For EYFS, we place an emphasis on Understanding the World (ELG: The Natural World) and Expressive Arts and Design (ELG: Creating with Materials).

Our History workshops are grounded in the historical site of Harewood. Sessions are designed around National Curriculum objectives and include behind-the-scenes tours and hands-on workshops with primary sources.

We are offering two new KS1 sessions which focus on comparing past and present and explore Harewood as a place of local significance.

We have two popular KS2 sessions which explore and challenge the history of Harewood in accessible and engaging ways.

Our Science workshops offer the opportunity to explore living things and biodiversity at our beautiful site.

We have well-established KS1 learning sessions and a brand-new session all about our farm animals.

This year, we are very excited to be taking part in The Wild Escape project. We have developed new KS2 focused sessions as part of this ground-breaking UK-wide project.

The Wild Escape is made possible by lead support from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants, with additional support from Art Fund and a group of generous individuals and trusts.

Our Art & Design workshops explore the amazing collection of historic and contemporary art and sculpture and are led by a professional artist Beatrice Knowles.

All learning sessions can be adapted to meet your pupil’s learning needs.

Self-guided visits

There is so much for you and students of all ages to enjoy on a self-led visit to Harewood House. Admission includes full access to the whole site, including Harewood House, the Grounds and Gardens, Farm Experience and the Adventure Playground so you can explore all day!

Secondary Schools

We offer an extensive range of tours at Harewood for Secondary learners which extend to all areas of the site, including the House, Grounds and Gardens.

All our sessions are led by our expert and friendly staff, we can also work with teachers to develop bespoke collaborative projects.

Harewood provides a rich context for high level study across both the sciences and humanities. We are an accredited museum with a ‘lived’ social history, world-class architecture, art and furniture collection.
