Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary

As one of the only farm animal sanctuaries in the UK with a dedicated Education & Outreach Programme, Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary take pupil engagement and compassionate learning seriously. A visit to our beautiful sanctuary is a unique and exciting experience that your pupils will remember for years to come.

Situated on the border between Shropshire and Worcestershire in the West Midlands, Goodheart Farm Animal sanctuary is easily reached from Birmingham and the M5.

Goodheart Farm Animal sanctuary is spread across 92 acres and includes an Indoor Classroom perfect for workshops and discussions as well as a dedicated Outdoor Education Area complete with raised beds, fire pit, habitat area, picnic benches and outdoor classroom.

Alongside this, the sanctuary is home to over 300 rescued farm animals, all with unique and inspiring stories. Meet, feed, and interact with our friendly group of cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, turkeys and even alpacas, while learning about key topics such as animal agriculture, food sustainability, climate change, the environment and much more.

If you have any specific topics you would like to cover, such as life cycles or animal husbandry, we will be pleased to incorporate these into your visit.

Every trip can be tailored to your class needs, curriculum or age group but most will include a welcome talk in our classroom before embarking on a tour of our sanctuary before lunch.

After enjoying a packed lunch in our classroom or picnic area, the trip concludes with a hands-on workshops or activity before a summary of what has been learned during the trip.

All visits are led by our Visitor & Education Manager Abby who is both DBS checked and First Aid Trained and can customise your visit to fit your particular learning objectives. We are pleased to welcome both primary and second school groups as well as community groups and clubs.

Pupils will leave Goodheart feeling energised and inspired, having furthered their knowledge of farm animals as well as gaining an understanding of what it takes to run a top notch animal sanctuary here in the UK!
