STRATFORD TOWN WALK and STRATFORD TOWN GHOST WALK

STRATFORD TOWN WALK – “a must do”
Winner of a Pride of Stratford Award & Coventry and Warwickshire Godiva Award for Best Visitor Attraction.

Walk through the pages of history in Shakespeare’s historic Stratford upon Avon.  Discover the Shakespeare story through fire, flood and plague, from medieval times to the modern day and see the houses associated with William and his family.

Tour Highlights

  • Shakespeare’s Birthplace (the timber-framed house where he was born and lived for over 20 years)
  • Shakespeare’s Grammar School (hear about William’s schooldays as you admire this building from the 15th century)
  • Harvard House (dating back to 1596 and owned by Harvard University)
  • New Place (the site of Shakespeare’s grand house and now a modern garden with specially commissioned artworks, weaving its way through Shakespeare’s life in an imaginative way),
  • Guild Chapel (complete with Medieval wall paintings)
  • Hall’s Croft (wealthy Jacobean residence of Dr John Hall, medical doctor and husband of Shakespeare’s daughter, Susanna)
  • Holy Trinity Church (ancient building dating back to 1210 and where Shakespeare was baptised and buried. Discover the blessing/curse on his grave and find out why he is buried in a privileged position).
  • Royal Shakespeare Theatres (see the three theatres overlooking the beautiful River Avon and owned by the RSC company)
  • River Avon (enjoy the plethora of swans, ducks and wildlife sailing gracefully along the beautiful river)

Hear fascinating stories of Stratford’s rich history, medieval cures and old fashioned sayings, wrapped up in a little Shakespeare.

Our team of highly trained guides present a lively tour that is interesting, informative and entertaining, involving the students and stimulating their minds.

If time allows the tour can include a visit to one or more of the Shakespeare Houses, Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall, or perhaps a relaxing cruise along the river Avon.

If you prefer a coach tour, our guides can hop on your coach to provide entertaining commentary as you travel slowly around the town to see the sights, before heading out to Shottery to see Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Wilmcote to see Mary Arden’s Farm.

STRATFORD TOWN GHOST WALK – “highly acclaimed”
Winner of a Pride of Stratford Award & Coventry and Warwickshire Godiva Award for Best Visitor Attraction.

Join Vincent, Herbert Mortimer, the Man in Black or Jocasta (costumed guide) for a magical walk around the ‘haunted’ streets of Stratford upon Avon.

Discover the buildings seeping with stories of ghosts, witches murder and misery.   Hear about the witch who lived in a slum, a 17th century haunted tearoom, the RSC ghost and the colourless lady at a local Hotel.  The stories you hear are true, what you make of them, is up to you. Good old-fashioned storytelling with entertainment.  The guides are professional entertainers or actors and deliver Stratford’s premier ghost walk in their own unique style.

The ghost walk is ideal evening entertainment, but can be arranged during the day if preferred.  Perhaps start the tour with a fish and chip supper (discount for Stratford Town Walk customers).
