Field Studies Council – West Midlands
There is no substitute for first-hand experiences in nature. FSC school trips bring classroom learning to life to develop skills such as resilience and independence; and building relationships with peers.
Fantastically accessible from the motorway, FSC Preston Montford is situated in the heart of Shropshire on the banks of the River Severn with views into Wales. The Centre is set in a 12-hectare estate, provides a rich range of habitats, including semi-ancient woodland, grazed fields, ponds, a wildflower meadow, an ancient orchard and a bee hotel. The Centre is popular for residential trips to support geography and biology fieldwork lessons and can accommodate a maximum of 131 guests.
Surrounded by stunning ancient woodland FSC Bishops Wood has a unique and sustainable centre building. The grounds are also home to a large pond and several outdoor learning areas with natural wood and willow sculptures. Bishops Wood is owned by the National Grid and operated by FSC.
FSC Birmingham offers a range of courses across the Second City, using inspiring and well known textbook locations. Through our variety of carefully chosen sites, we offer courses tailored to meet your needs and enhance students’ fieldwork skills. All our teaching sites are fully accessible and can be reached by train or coach. Our teaching sites include: Perry Barr – location of the Commonwealth Games 2022, The Bullring, Digbeth, Millennium Point, Edgbaston and Ladywood.
