Set across 24 acres of land, Askham Bryan Wildlife Park is home to many different species of Animals and Plants.
During our opening times, guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature as they take in our award-winning arboretum.
We offer animal talks throughout the day on many different species, craft sessions, seasonal events and trails around the Wildlife Park.
We run Wildlife Academy programmes for young conservationists throughout the year for 7-17 year olds wishing to learn the skills needed to protect and look after the Wildlife in our care.
During our term times, we use our closed periods to take school bookings daily.
All of our school visits are self-guided which means schools get the exclusivity of the wildlife park being closed to the public. This means schools can experience our wonderful animals and grounds whilst facilitating all of their educational needs.
We accommodate school trips of all age groups from EYFS to KS4.
We offer workshops tailored towards various subjects including: Habitats, Rainforests, All the Vores (animal diets and skulls), Prehistoric life and Saving species and spaces. For older learners we offer Enclosure design and careers workshops.
We pride ourselves in our multisensory learning experiences and as we reserve our term times for school visits, this allows all of our visiting school the chance to engage with nature in the best way possible.
Our workshops are classroom based but include lots of interaction and activities.
For an end of day treat, our learners are welcome to use our Play Park which is built in to our Wildlife Park, it gives learners a safe space to run and play at any point during their visit.
During selected opening times, we offer early access for SEN learners to allow them to experience the Wildlife Park during our quiet periods.
