Blackgang Chine, with its ever present coastal erosion, has sensibly developed a new fascinating exhibition for 2010, BBC COAST. This new attraction is based on the popular BBC2 TV series and not only looks back at some of the amazing stories covered by the show, but also takes an in depth look at Blackgang’s incredible story of The Disappearing Village.

Harewood House

Harewood House welcomes back the Lord Chamberlains Men to perform William Shakespeare’s play the Tempest (Thursday 8 July) Just as it was originally performed - there will be wandering minstrels before the start of the show and schools will have the opportunity to join in a 15 minute question and answer session after the show to speak to the actors about their roles and discuss specific plot points for their curriculum work.

Safety Centre - Open Day

Sunday 22 August 2010 10.00am - 4.00pm. This is a day when we open the Centre to the public - entry is free and we have a number of guests - eg Fire Service, Police who attend as well as some fun games etc for the children.

Exciting New Arrivals at Beamish Wild!

We are looking forward, fingers crossed, to some new arrivals this year at our centre. Many of our breeding pairs of birds are busy nest building. Our European Eagle Owls are again sitting on eggs so hopefully we can have as much success with them as we did last year.

York City Sightseeing welcomes back its guides for the summer season

During the cold winter months our guides take a break and pursue their other interests, which tend to be historically based. We have experts on York Minster, Richard the III, the Development of the Railways and even someone who helps to re-fight the Wars of the Roses (on the Yorkist side, of course!).

Kingston Maurward Gardens & Animal Park

Kingston Maurward is continuing to develop its Animal Park and has recently seen the arrival of two Dartmoor ponies and Giant rabbits, who join the various animals currently in residence. In the next few months Chinchillas and tortoises will also be happily making a new home at Kingston Maurward.

Hilltop Outdoor Centre – Norfolk

Hilltop has recently undergone a Renovation and Renaming of our accommodation centres – we now have ‘SEAVIEW HOUSE’ and ‘WOODLAND LODGE’ centres. We have refitted dining room cupboards, re-carpeted, purchased new dining chairs and had new windows fitted along with many other improvements to the centre.
