Beamish Wild – Competition Winners of 2010 |

On the 14th April 2011 Beamish Wild hosted an event for Mortimer Community College. This trip was the prize to a competition held by www.educationalvisitsuk.com. The competition was for the students to write a letter to the staff of Beamish Wild explaining why their school deserved to come on this trip. After many, many entries the staff at Beamish Wild chose Mortimer Community College as the winners.
The day was planned as a fun filled day where the students would get a break from their work and a chance to have lots of fun. First up for the day was Crate Stacking, the students would be working in pairs to try and build the highest tower possible. After a few wobbles and many laughs a huge tower was built. Next up was High All Aboard, the students would need to work together to conquer this activity. The challenge here was to get 4 students onto a platform at the top of a pole; however the platform is a little on the small side. All the students managed to complete the task after a little shuffling about and some really good communication.
Then it was onto the highlight of everyone’s day, the High Ropes Course. The students were briefed on the safety equipment then it was time for them to swing through the trees. The students all enjoyed the next few hours of wobbling, climbing, jumping and swinging and to finish the day on a high the finish line was crossed via our 45 foot Powerfan drop.
