The Railway Folk
27 Jul 2013 - 29 Jul 2013
A new event for 2013!
Meet ‘Ratchett’ the locomotive repairman and his niece Penny who likes nothing more than getting grubby in the workshop! You’ll be seeing a lot of them over the course of these three days! But the chances of running trains on time don’t look good, as Mrs Cumberpatch the Booking Clerk knits and talks and talks and knits when she should be selling tickets - while Burt the Engine Driver seems more interested in cooking his lunch. And why is Tamp the Trackman always digging holes?
None of this will please Mr Beeching from the Ministry who wants everything ship-shape or he’ll close the railway!
Featuring Dusty the Station Master, young Nipper, Smoke Box the station cat and a host of captivating new characters, this fascinating and imaginative street theatre will appeal to children aged 2 to 102!
To complete your day out, around the station there’s all sorts of fun and activities for families to enjoy including storytelling, competitions, children’s roundabout ride and a bumpy slide, plus the Woodland walk, picnic areas and a good selection of refreshments available.
… But remember to keep your eyes peeled, especially if you don’t want to lose your lunch … And if yours just happens to be sausages, watch out!!
Tickets, which include Steam Train fares: Adult £10.50, Child (5-15) £5.50, Infant (0-4) FREE, Family £26.50 (2 Adults & 2 Children).
(Please Note: All tickets are valid for one day)

John Nevison the Yorkshire Highwayman
10 Aug 2013 - 11 Aug 2013
John Nevison was a famous late 17th century Yorkshire highwayman who robbed the length of the Great North Road but especially in the northern counties. One story about him was how he was supposed to have ridden from London to York in less than a day to gain alibi for a robbery he'd been witnessed committing. On the weekend of the 13th and 14th August, 'Swift Nicks' Nevison has had to escape from the Black Horse Inn with the law of the land after him. Luckily he is good friends with the castle steward and as the countess is away he has been allowed into the castle to hide where he intends to wait until dark and then to attempt to sneak back to retrieve his favourite horse 'Nutmeg'. Saturday: 10am - 5pm Sunday: 12 noon - 5pm

Historia Normannis
17 Aug 2013 - 18 Aug 2013
The walls of Skipton castle will echo to the sound of swords and shields once again - but don't worry, it's only the reenactors of Historia Normannis! Come and see medieval craftsman demonstrating their trading, knights displaying their prowess, and the ladies describing life as it would have been in the reign of Henry II. The castle itself will be the site of historic set-pieces, recreating the daily working of a local medieval court, the furnishings of a Lord's bedchamber, and outside the walls, a working medievil seige weapon! A great day out for history enthusiasts and curious families alike-it promises to be an event not to be missed! Saturday: 10am - 6pm Sunday 12 noon - 6pm
