Look Up is a year-long programme of temporary artworks made for the city’s public spaces and places. Each piece is unique and will take place within different seasons of the Hull 2017 programme. All have taken as their inspiration and starting point the work, people and location of The Deep.
Tania is creating a new large scale sculptural work titled 'BLEACHED'. This newly commissioned artwork responds to both the beauty of underwater coral landscapes and urgent environmental concerns about the increase in incidents of coral bleaching worldwide. Working closely with our staff, she has recycled our cast corals that were dismantled from our recently refurbished Lagoon of Light.
Kovats' recent work has focused on our relationship with the sea. Other works being made include new wall-based barnacle sculptures and drawings using salt and ink hydrology charts.
Her work will be displayed both in The Deep and in the new Humber Street Gallery in the Fruit Market.
