Why are there giant footprints, a huge bath and even a stone chair carved into the cliffs of Blaise Castle Estate? Discover the story of how Bristol’s landscape was changed by two giants in this active outdoor learning session.
Suitable for: Year 1–2
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Group size: Up to 35 pupils – you can book more than one session
The children will:
•Follow in the footsteps of giants as they walk through Blaise Castle Estate
•Hear the story of giants Ghyston and Goram, whose quest for love left their mark on Bristol
•Take part in nature activities linked to the story, as you travel through the woods
The pupils will work in smaller groups. Please bring at least one adult for every six pupils.
Please ensure children and adults are dressed appropriately for outdoor learning. This includes warm and waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear.
A site pre-visit is encouraged in order to complete your own risk assessment.
To ensure everyone’s safety we may need to relocate this session to another Blaise Estate location at short notice (due to poor weather conditions).
Cost: £4 per pupil. Accompanying adults free.
These sessions run on Thursdays and Fridays between 3 May – 20 July 2018. There are two sessions at 11am-12.30pm and 12.30pm-2pm. Further times and dates may be available.
