    Further Details

Watchman V is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the official mascot of the Staffordshire Regiment who has the freedom of the town of Tamworth. During our February Friday Focus Feature we will be joined by Watchman and his owner (Greg Hedges) who will be helping our young visitors learn more and understand how to stay safe when interacting with dogs as well as giving an exciting history of Watchman's role as a military mascot and an explanation of the uniform associated with his Regiment. This workshop will be fully interactive and pupils will be given ample opportunity to interact with Watchman and ask many questions about dogs, the Staffordshire Regiment, military mascots and some of Watchman’s exciting achievements, which include meeting royalty, being voted Westminster Dog of the Year and more!

Visit leaders must make necessary arrangements for any young visitors with dog fur allergies or extreme fear of dogs. Watchman’s temperament around children is exemplary, and he has been known to help children with some reservations about dogs overcome some of their fears, but visit leaders are best placed to know their young visitors and how they may react.
