Ogwen Cottage provides challenging and committing residential courses and adventurous activities for young people, and activity, skills, and National Governing Body Award courses for adults. Nestling between the Glyder and Carneddau mountain ranges, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, Ogwen is ideally placed to provide high quality courses in an inspiring location.
Ogwen Cottage provides residential opportunities for a wide range of user groups with the centre ethos being one of “challenge and commitment through adventurous activities” and are aimed at encouraging young people to “achieve and aspire”.
Personal, social development is an integral part of an Ogwen course designed to give each group a unique set of outcomes. Schools or organisations may also predetermine the desired outcomes and so tutors can target their approach, language and activities toward these goals.
From its stunning location within the Snowdonia National Park, Ogwen is able to deliver highly effective courses through un-paralleled access to wild terrain and challenging venues. Directly from the centre we have access to many of Snowdonia’s 3000’ mountains, a number of single pitch and multi pitch climbing venues, gorge scrambling and low level walking. This combined with easy access to lake; river and coastal locations make it an ideal venue for many groups and enable us to tailor courses to group requirements.

To ensure high quality, Ogwen employs experienced and highly qualified staff who amongst them hold: MIA, MIC, British Mountain Guide, BCU/UKCC, BASI awards, in addition to B Ed or PGCE qualifications. All staff also attend regular Birmingham City Council training in areas such as first aid, Safeguarding, food hygiene, minibus driving and are Educational Visit Leaders.
