The National Centre for Citizenship and the Law (NCCL) delivers educational sessions to Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, College and University students in London at the Royal Courts of Justice and Supreme Court, Nottingham at the Galleries of Justice Museum and the City of Caves and Northampton at the Sessions House.
All Primary School activities are linked to the National Curriculum at KS1 and KS2 for English, History, PSHE and Citizenship amongst other subjects. We provide access to knowledge of the law, how the law can affect young people’s everyday lives and understanding the full consequences of breaking the law; from the individual involved to the impact on the wider community. "We decided this year to take our year 8 boys on a trip to the Royal Courts of Justice as part of our PSHCE programme. As a teacher you sometimes wonder whether the trip will inspire the boys but we did not need to worry because from the time we entered court number 5 and the boys started to dress up as judges, witnesses and executioner they were thoroughly involved and excited by the experience and the chance to take part in the legal system. To see one of their friends sitting in the judges chair with wig and gown was a highlight. The staff running the event had great enthusiasm, an excellent knowledge of the topic and most importantly got all the boys totally involved in the trial to decide whether hangings should take place in front of the public. Thank you to all concerned and we will see you all again next year!"

"Everyone enjoyed the visit and all took away information and experiences they would never have gained from class work alone."
Boston College -
"The whole visit was outstanding. It was a hands on, interactive experience which the pupils loved. I have no doubt they took a great deal from their day and it will benefit them in their crime & punishment exam. Lovely, helpful staff in all areas. We will be back next year. Thank you so much."
