The award winning heritage centre captures the essence of medieval England, the War of the Roses and ‘what came next’, in an exciting, hands on experience. Combine this with our fascinating range of curriculum-linked workshops and interactive sessions, and you have the perfect educational experience designed to capture the imagination of students of all ages and abilities.
At Bosworth we offer a tailor-made approach which enables you to get the most out of your day. Each itinerary is bespoke to your school and every session can be adapted according to the class objectives, key stage, ability and age.
What’s on Offer
Award Winning Interactive Exhibition
Students can take a walk through this fascinating period of history, get hands-on with our weapons wall, try on armour, shoot an interactive long bow and see the gory practices of a barber surgeon. The finishing touch is our BFI lab where the details of the Battlefield finds are on display, complete with genuine artefacts.
Walking the Historic Battlefield
Led by one of our expert guides, this walk is just short of 2 Kilometres, bringing the events of 22nd August 1485 and the birth of the Tudor dynasty to life.
Historic Re-Enactments
Join Captain Mortimer in his camp with a display of amour, weapons and combat techniques. Pupils will become new recruits and take part in a pole arm drill.
Join Mick the Fletcher as he explains about the different types of bows and arrows, how they were made and describes all about the life of an apprentice fletcher.
History Detectives
Students will handle genuine historical objects from various periods in history and identify what they can tell us about the past.
Heraldry Workshop
Students will discover the history and meanings of heraldry and put what they have learned into practice to find the traitor.
Falconry
With its strong visual imagery, historic and scientific associations, falconry can be used to support many curriculum subjects.
Roman Day Workshop
‘The Romans are Coming’! The glory of the Roman Empire is recreated in a full day of activities that bring history to life. Students meet a Roman Centurion and discover what life was like in the Roman army, handle genuine Roman objects and help the domestic slave to look after and entertain the family.
